Steps to book a IELTS

There are two methods of registration for the IELTS exam in India.

  1. Online through the website -
    1. Visit the official website of IDP.
    2. Choose the Test type, module, and test city.
    3. Seat availability will appear, and select the date and city for the test.
    4. Complete the online application and upload a scanned copy of your passport.
    5. Now pay the exam fee using valid debit/credit cards and other payment methods.
    6. After completing registration, you will see a confirmation certificate on the screen.
  2. Offline through IDP office / Referral Partner -
    1. Visit your nearest IDP branch or Referral Partner, fill in the application form, and sign all the terms and conditions.
    2. Submit a photocopy of your passport.
    3. Pay the exam fees using a Credit/Debit Card, NetBanking, UPI, or Bank Deposit.
    4. Get your IELTS exam confirmation on your Email

Documents to carry on IELTS exam date

Here is the list of documents you are required to carry on your exam date at IELTS Test Centre

  1. Original passport
  2. Acknowledgment Letter

Please note you are not required to carry personal stationary or water bottle as they provide it.

How to re-schedule an IELTS test?

If your IELTS exam date is more than 34 days away, you can reschedule your test without submitting any documents or charges. However, if you have more than 15 days and less than 34 days, you must upload a supporting document such as Medical Certificate, Police FIR, Death/Cremation certificate etc. The IELTS will verify your request and convey their decision through your registered email address. You can choose the new test centre and date if they approve your request. You must also pay Rs 4000 as rescheduling fees while booking the new exam. If your exam date is less than 15 days away, you cannot reschedule.

To re-schedule your IELTS exam, you have to follow the steps

  1. Login at the IELTS IDP India website
  2. Locate your upcoming exam and Click on the Transfer button.
  3. You will be asked to upload supporting documents based on the days left.
  4. Submit your request and wait for the decision.

How to cancel your IELTS test?

If the time between the exam date and the cancellation date is less than 15 days, then you are not allowed to cancel the exam. However, you can cancel the exam without a document or question if the exam date is more than 34 days away, and you will get a full refund. If your exam date is between 15-34 days, your cancellation request is subject to approval, and you must submit valid proof such as Medical records. If your cancellation request is accepted, you will get a refund minus administrative fees of Rs 4000. The refund takes up to 8-10 working days to get processed.
