What is the German Grade Scale

The Germany Education System has a different grading system than World Grading Systems. They use the Bravian formula to calculate the grades. In this grading system, the lowest score is considered the best, and the highest is the worst. The German grade scale ranges between 1.0 and 6.0 (or 5.0), where 1.0 is the highest score possible, and 6.0 (or 5.0) is the lowest.

A score between 1.0 and 1.3 is considered Excellent, whereas 1.7 - 2.3 is good. The satisfactory score or average grade ranges between 2.7 and 3.3. The sufficient score to pass the exams is between 3.7 and 4.0. Anything more than 4.0 is considered as Failed.

The resultant grade will equal your grade in the German Grading System, where the maximum score is 1.0 and 6.0 (or 5.0) is the lowest. The universities in Germany may have a different calculation formula. Still, most universities use the Modified Bavarian Formula to convert the grades from International formats like GPA, CGPA, Percentage etc., to German grades.
