The CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average and scores on a scale of 0 and 10, where 10 is the maximum achievable score, and 0 is the lowest. The CGPA scale is introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to simplify the grading scales for Class 10th and Class 12th students. With time, many universities adopted a similar scale and started proving grades in CGPA instead of percentage. However, CBSE uses the CGPA scoring system to score the academic performance of Class X students up to 2018 and later changed back to percentage.

The highest possible grade is A1, equivalent to CGPA between 9.1 and 10.0. The minimum grade required to pass the CBSE board exams is D1.
