TOEFL is a Test of English as a Foreign Language that measures how well non-native speakers of English can analyze and understand University level English as the Educational Testing Service administers it. For students who want to enrol in any overseas university or college, this test is accepted by more than 11,500 Universities and other institutions in over 190 countries and territories. A good exam score is necessary for admission to top-ranking colleges/universities in the USA, UK, Australia, etc.
Moreover, there are four sections in TOEFL, such as reading, writing, speaking and listening, and section of this test is scored on a scale of 0-30, and the total score is the sum of the scores of all four sections. The maximum possible score is 120. The TOEFL exam is taken in more than 160 countries and accepted by 11,500 universities and colleges worldwide. However, the minimum score requirement varies from degree to degree and depends on the university. This exam is usually given by International students of Non-English speaking countries to prove their English language skills and be admitted to universities of English-speaking countries.
To be eligible for the TOEFL exam in India, you must have a valid passport and pass Class 12 from any recognised school or college. Despite this, there are no specific eligibility criteria for this exam.
There is no specific syllabus for the TOEFL exam, as this is an English language proficiency test. You have to show your skills in the English language. The ETS will test your Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills through different question types, and you have to answer in the given time. Try to correct as many answers as possible because you will get the score based on your correct answers, and there is no negative marking.
There are four sections in this test. In the reading section, you have to read 2 passages and answer 20 questions within 35 minutes. In the listening section, you will hear the long and short conversations in which they ask you multiple questions. The TOEFL iBT exam fee in India is Rs 16,900, and it can be paid using Online payment methods such as UPI, NetBanking, Debit/Credit cards etc. You can also use e-Vouchers available at discounted prices to book your exam without any hassle. If you reschedule or cancel your test, then you must pay an additional fee for the same.
To register for the TOEFL exam in India, you have to visit the official website of ETS India and need to Signup for the account. This account can be used to book and manage your exam and view the test results. If seats are available, you can book up to 48 hours before the scheduled time slot.
The TOEFL exam is held more than 60 times yearly in India, and ETS India has more than 30 test centres. Depending on your convenience, you can choose any date, but be early to book the preferred time slot to avoid last-minute hassles and unavailability.
The TOEFL exam results are available in your ETS account after the 4-8 working days of the exam, and the exact result date will be displayed on your screen after the exam.
