The Canada Visa Medical test is required for all visa categories, including Student, Worker, Visitor, Permanent Residency, and Express Entry. According to IRCC rules, any person who has been designated for more than 6 months in the last year is subject to a Visa Medical Test before arriving in Canada.

The standard charges for the Canada Visa Medical Test in Pakistan are between PKR 30,500 and PKR 31,000 for individuals aged 15 years and above.

 

How do I book an appointment for a Canadian visa medical test in Pakistan?

To book your Canadian visa medical test appointment in Pakistan, you must contact authorised hospitals directly, such as the IOM Medical Health Assessment Centre in Islamabad, Karachi or Lahore. You can book your appointment either online, by phone, or by email. Depending on the Clinic, they will collect the charges either upfront during an appointment or on the day of the appointment.

Based on your availability, they will provide you with an appointment date & time. You must visit the clinic on the scheduled appointment day and undergo a medical examination. 

 

What documents should I carry for the Canada Visa Medical Test in Pakistan?

When taking the Canadian visa medical test in Pakistan, you must carry the following documents to ensure a smooth procedure.

  1. Original Passport with One photocopy
  2. FRC (Family Registration Certificate) for Pakistani nationals.
  3. The marriage certificate of the mother, wherein the father's name of the accompanying children is entered.
  4. COVID Vaccination Copy
  5. IME Letter provided by IRCC (if applicable)
  6. A written note with your Address, Mobile Number, and Email address.
  7. Antenatal Card for pregnant ladies
  8. Spectacles/contact lenses if you wear one
  9. Medical history: list of current medications, recent blood tests and x-rays, hospital notes, discharge summaries, doctors' letters or prescriptions

 

What medical tests will be conducted during a Canada Visa Medical Examination?

The Medical tests during an Examination depend on the age of the applicant; however, the most common tests are weight measurement, an Eye Check-up, a chest X-ray, a Urine Sample, a Blood Sample, and an eye check-up, followed by a Medical Examination by a panel physician.

There might be some additional Medical tests, such as a TB investigation, Urine Pregnancy Test, IGRA, and Sputum Smear, based on the Doctor's recommendation. There will be no X-ray examination for pregnant applicants. The applicant must bear additional charges for any further tests. 

 

What is the procedure for a Canada Visa Medical Test in the hospital?

The Medical Examination is similar to a general body check-up, where an authorised hospital will conduct basic medical tests as set by IRCC. Here is the Step-by-Step procedure of What you should expect at the Test Centre on the day of the appointment

  1. Visit the Clinic/Hospital on the day of your medical appointment and collect your token.
  2. Get your Photo clicked by a Staff Member.
  3. Proceed to the ID Check Counter and present your Passport, IME Letter, and other necessary Documents.
  4. Make the Medical Examination Fees in Cash.
  5. They will take measurements of your height, weight, and blood pressure and conduct a vision test.
  6. Then, you must proceed with an X-ray examination if applicable. Change into a Hospital-Provided Gown and undergo the X-ray test.
  7. Give your blood and urine samples as instructed.
  8. Wait for the lab results, followed by a check-up by the Panel Physician. They may ask you to remove the Clothes in a covered area to check for any past Surgery-related marks.

The entire process will take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on the level of demand and availability of the Panel Physician.

 

How to Obtain Medical Reports from the Hospital?

The Medical Reports will be uploaded directly by the hospital to the IRCC portal, and it will take approximately 24-48 hours for the update to be reflected. If there are any abnormalities in your test results, the panel physician will inform you on the day of your appointment. Hence, you do not need to collect your reports from the hospital physically. At the end of the Examination, you will be issued the Medical Information Sheet required for your visa application. 

 

Is Fasting required before a Medical Test?

No, the Medical tests conducted during the Canadian visa medical are standard and do not require fasting. It is recommended to have a proper meal before coming for the Examination.

 

What is the validity of the Canada Medical Check-up Report?

The Validity of the Canada Visa Medical Report is 1 year from the date of the Examination. In the event of a Visa Refusal or Re-Application, the same Medical report can be used for a Canadian visa application. Suppose the gap between the Medical Examination Date and the Date of Arrival in Canada exceeds 1 year. In that case, the applicant must undergo a Re-Medical examination, even if they have a valid Visa. As per IRCC rules, the traveller must have a valid Medical Report at the time of arrival in Canada if the length of stay is more than 6 months in Designated Countries in the last year.

Important Instructions for Canada Visa Medical Tests in Pakistan

There are several essential instructions to follow before taking the Visa Medical Test for Canada.

  1. Female Candidates are advised not to book an appointment during their menstrual cycle and wait until then.
  2. Please note that relatives or friends are not permitted to accompany you and may need to wait outside the premises.
  3. Dressing: Avoid coloured contact lenses. Please do not wear any Jewellery or Necklaces, as they will need to be removed during the X-ray. Wear easy-to-change clothing with minimal pins. Ensure the sleeves are not tight and can be rolled up past the elbow to accommodate a blood sample.
  4. You are not required to fast for a medical examination; therefore, it is recommended that you have a meal as usual.
  5. It is mandatory for Refugee applicants to please bring Polio vaccination Card at the day of their appointment
  6. A chaperone will be offered and available during the physical examination for all applicants. If you have a medical requirement, you can bring a family member or support person to your appointment. Please notify the clinic when you make your appointment if you will be bringing someone with you. However, the clinic will evaluate the entry of non-appointed persons on a case-by-case basis and the available seating space within the premises.
  7. Proof of relationship (of parent or legal guardian) is necessary when consenting to conduct IMEs for children.
  8. Applicants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian who cannot provide consent and make decisions on their behalf.
