The ability to empower organisations and their people is a highly sought-after skill, and the focus on developing, valuing, and managing human resources has never been greater. This unique course blends strategic HR, development and consulting to develop students' expertise in working with and through people.
Whether students are recent graduates, or already work in HR, management education or consultancy, their minds will be challenged as they train in this program to think and act critically and effectively. This is not a program focused on simplistic ‘models’ or techniques. Instead students are taught to hone the capabilities and skills necessary to develop people and knowledge effectively.
Students will put their newly developed conceptual abilities into practice with real-life organisations, including how to intervene constructively in strategic issues and stimulate change through consulting. They will be encouraged to work collaboratively, sharing ideas and experiences with their international classmates and tutors. As graduates of the program tell the university, that’s often how students will learn the most.
The department provide a supportive environment, centred around its students. They will be taught by distinguished academics who research and publish at the very highest level. Students will also hear from guest speakers ranging from internal managers to experienced external consultants. The department's learning approach includes critical analysis, experiential learning and interactive processes. Even the dissertation will be stimulated through peer-supported research.
Equipped with sophisticated conceptual, analytical and practical skills, many graduates secure roles in consulting in the people side of organisations. Others work in human resource development and management, organisational development, or leadership and management development.
