By taking the MSc in Management and Human Resources, students will learn the essentials of business leadership, critical thinking and analytical skills, underpinned with a thorough grounding in the key principles of business management. They'll gain an understanding of how to use an organization's best resource - its workforce - to achieve its strategic goals and get the very best out of each individual and team. They'll also study key perspectives on human behavior, how these behaviors are affected by times of uncertainty and change and what can be done to mitigate these challenges.
This Master's course is ideal for graduates of non-business related courses who want to boost their employability by adding fundamental business and management skills to their CV, with a particular leaning towards human resource management. For hands-on experience, learners can choose to undertake a consultancy project with one of the partner organizations.
With a strong focus on practical learning, students will make use of LBU's purpose-built business simulation suite, allowing them to devise rapid response strategies to address a range of business-critical challenges and crisis situations. Immediate feedback from a facilitator will help evaluate and improve their analytical and decision making skills.
Teaching includes lectures, seminars and tutorials, using both individual and group work. LBU tutors are academic experts, many of whom are Fellows of the Higher Education Academy, and industry practitioners, qualified to professional chartered status in their respective fields. A guest lecture programme throughout the year will provide networking opportunities with presenting organizations. Past speakers have included the CEO of the London Stock Exchange and the deputy agent of the Bank of England in Yorkshire and The Humber.
MSc qualification in management principles allied to deep-rooted knowledge of human resource management will demonstrate to employers that students are ready for a senior position in the public, private or charitable sector. They can work as a human resources manager, operations manager or project manager.
