Mathematical Finance at Trent University at Peterborough

Mathematical finance is a dynamic new branch of mathematics. Now, more than ever, mathematics grads are sought after by top financial institutions. To help meet this need, enter this specialization for mathematics majors at Trent University. Students will dive in and develop mathematical modelling, data analysis, and computational skills using statistics, linear programming, and stochastic processes. They will learn how best to apply these techniques to finance and investment strategy and market models.

Graduating students who have fulfilled the requirements for a single-major Honours degree in Mathematics may apply for a Specialization in Mathematical Finance, if they have also successfully completed the following 6.5 credits:

  • 5.0 MATH credits consisting of MATH 2150H, 2180H, 2560H, 3150H, 3160H, 3350H, 3510H, 3560H, 3570H, and 4510H
  • 1.5 ECON credits consisting of ECON 1010H, 1020H, and 3020H
