Learners can program their future, just the way they want. Whether learners are aspiring programmers, software engineers, data or computer scientists, the MSc Advanced Computing Science course is the ideal opportunity to set themselves apart from other graduates.
From day one, students will be immersed in the expertise of UEA's world-leading research team who work at the cutting edge of computing science. They'll study core subjects including the flagship module Advanced Programming. This will cover historical, established and upcoming programming languages, compilers and interpreters, functional languages, assembly and intermediate languages, code optimization, high performance computing, software testing and modern software frameworks. The final deliverable of this module will see students (in groups or individually) produce a prototype of a professional standard software product to tackle a real-world problem, keeping industrial software engineering practice and guidelines in mind.
The compulsory Research Techniques module will help learners master crucial skills such as writing scientific reports and analyzing and critically reviewing scientific publications. They'll also develop their ability to analyze and process big data resources using basic and advanced statistical methods. Everything is brought to life in UEA's specialist lab with humanoid robots, haptic feedback devices, optical motion capture and high resolution video cameras and mainstream Virtual Reality (VR) hardware.
Careers opportunities for MSc Advanced Computing Science graduates may include software engineering, web or app development, programming, systems analysis, data science, artificial intelligence development, academic or industrial research, entrepreneurship or teaching.
