Foundations of Clinical Psychology at Bournemouth University at Talbot

This Master’s course within the Department of Psychology adopts a patient-centered approach to teaching the origins and range of clinical psychology. It is recognised and respected by practitioners for producing sound, highly employable graduates within many branches of psychology.

The course is ideal for anyone wishing to gain an in-depth knowledge of clinical psychology, and is particularly relevant if they intend to apply to a training program to qualify as a clinical psychologist. Whilst a place on such a training programme is not guaranteed, BU's graduates have a thorough grounding in all relevant aspects. Alternatively, students may choose to pursue a career in psychological research.

Students will look at patient-centered case histories, and benefit from the teaching contributions of trained and practicing clinical psychologists while considering a range of therapies and disorders.

Delivery of the program is typically two days per week on campus between October and May each year, with supervision arrangements for the dissertation in June and July. This delivery pattern allows graduates to plan and build a clinical portfolio more effectively, if appropriate to their future career.
