Through accurate assessment and monitoring of health and fitness levels, students will prepare activities and program. The new program curriculum focuses on four areas of study:
The four areas of study support student success with industry-related certifications external to the program. Program faculty will provide guidance and information on the various certifications that are available and relevant to fitness and health professionals.
Over four semesters, students will progressively develop skills and knowledge in fitness assessment and exercise programming, nutrition, health promotion, leadership and self-development, business planning and lifestyle consulting. Field Placement opportunities will provide students with workplace experience supervised by trained professionals and leaders in the fitness industry. For example, students have requested placements in hospitals, corporate sites, fitness facilities, chiropractic or physiotherapy settings, and non-profit organizations such as Diabetes Canada and Osteoporosis Canada.
