A rewarding and ever-developing field, this Middlesex University course will allow students to enable people's welfare and wellbeing at work. From helping to prevent work-related illness and stress to understanding how motivation can impact on health, the course is varied and constantly developing. Students will not only improve the quality of people's lives, but do so in an area where, owing to the very nature of the employer-employee relationship, it can often be hard for individuals to put their health first.
This course has a strong emphasis on practical skills, and students may have the opportunity to work on projects in collaboration with professionals. The University's strong links within the industry and professional bodies mean that this course is highly regarded and well respected internationally. Employers often invite applications from Middlesex' graduates when they have a vacancy.
As well as gaining an in-depth understanding of the subject, students will also be a competent practitioner who is able to lead health, safety and wellbeing improvement in the workplace. Students will develop legal, technical and scientific knowledge to enable them to recognise, assess, and problem solve risks. Students will understand health and safety in high-risk industries including agriculture, construction, transport, and manufacturing, and will be able to develop an organisation's safety and wellbeing policy, respond to accident and ill health reporting, and improve their negotiation, advocacy, management, leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
