Sheridan College's Architectural Technician diploma program provides students the practical skills and fundamental architectural knowledge they need to enter the workplace after graduation. Students will study building code standards, materials, project planning and more. Skills they will learn include: 2D and 3D Computer-aided Design and Drafting (CADD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), visual problem-solving, preparation of contract documents and specifications and envelope detailing. During Sheridan's annual Architecture Week, students will work with other architecture students on design challenges assigned by real clients from the community. Students will also have the chance to learn from guest speakers who are current industry leaders, discussing topics such as sustainability, new buildings and more. After graduation, students can either enter the workforce or go directly into the final year of Sheridan’s Architectural Technology advanced diploma program. There, they will learn to use advanced technologies, develop key leadership skills and even earn credits towards a master’s degree.
