The Professional Accounting graduate certificate program is a first step to becoming a Chartered Professional Accountant. Once students have successfully completed this program, they can apply to CPA’s Professional Education Program (PEP) — the final step before they write their Common Final Exam (CFE). Even if students don’t have an accounting background, they will soon be on their way to becoming a CPA. CPA’s preparatory courses are rigorous and challenging to complete. By taking the Professional Accounting program, students get the equivalent courses in a supportive classroom setting. Students will also benefit from the best of the college experience — practical learning, one-on-one attention and small classes. Co-operative education in this program gives students the chance to gain valuable work experience and showcase their accounting skills to potential employers. Accountants need to have a strong theoretical knowledge as well as practical software skills. Unlike other institutions, Sheridan college gives both to their students. This combination of theory and software experience will make students more marketable to potential employers. And because students will be familiar with the latest accounting software, they will be ready for the workplace.
