Cities need designers who understand the built environment. This eight-month graduate certificate responds to that demand, teaching students to design inclusive and sustainable solutions that connect and integrate urban landscapes. Sheridan is one of the few colleges in Canada to offer this niche training, which is traditionally taught in master's level studies.
Sheridan's state-of-the-art Hazel McCallion Campus is a living lab for urban designers, surrounded by new development in the heart of Mississauga. Students have the chance to propose real-world solutions during a field placement with an urban design firm or industry partner.
Sheridan is well-known as a leader in design education. Students learn from professors who have strong academic backgrounds and extensive industry experience in built environments. They teach students how to apply software skills to create visualizations of urban environments. Students will also study concepts of mobility, wayfinding, placemaking, ecology and more.
