Anthropology is the study of humankind, from the earliest peoples to contemporary digital society. Students will learn about different peoples, languages, and cultures from around the world and across time as they study the four principal fields of the discipline – archaeological, biological, cultural, and linguistic anthropology. Students will explore the extraordinary variability in human adaptation, organization and belief systems, and discover the common circumstances that unite everyone.
As a Sociology student at Trent University, students will explore and question a diverse range of social topics, completing their studies with an understanding of social organizations and institutions and people’s place in them. Students will get their hands dirty on a global scale through Trent University's archaeological field schools in Belize, Greece, or Ontario. They will explore the evolution of human beings as both physical and social creatures, from the first tool-makers to the modern global population. Students will learn how to communicate more effectively by understanding other people’s perspectives and priorities. They will study different cultures firsthand through a year abroad program in virtually any country – Ghana, Thailand, France.
