Students will receive training in the skills required for the reading and interpretation of the literature and translating that into evidence-based practice. At Chester, they aim to develop students' research and writing skills so that they will be in a position to contribute to the scientific literature in an effective manner, culminating in the production of an article in the style of a published journal article focusing on an orthopaedic topic of their choice.
This MSc in Orthopaedics is unique because it is focused on enhancing students' specialist knowledge of specific orthopaedic conditions with a flexible approach that considers their background and their future career. Students will be welcomed as an individual to Medical School, and students will be taught by both specialist academic and clinical staff, as well as world-class visiting lecturers who are active in orthopaedic research.
All of the assessments are coursework-based and the majority of assessment topics are student-led, which means students can focus on increasing their specialist knowledge of topics that are relevant to them. Students will be taught how to interrogate the evidence that supports the use of the current diagnostic methods and treatment strategies of various orthopaedic conditions to allow them to understand and evaluate the most advanced strategies available worldwide.
