Global attitudes to public health have never been more significant. Migration, inequality, and the global economy have changed how we think about health and illness. As a result, tackling public health issues now needs to be viewed on a global scale. Learners can explore global approaches to public health and their increasing impact on global security with MSc in Global Public Health.
This course offers students a rich and varied environment to explore the complex public health issues relevant to a global audience. Anyone with an undergraduate degree and/or relevant work experience is encouraged to apply. Students will have a choice of contemporary subject to study that enables them to personalize this programme to suit their career goals.
Teaching comes from an experienced team of lecturers which includes academics and practitioners with a wide range of experience. They bring a wealth of professional, cultural and personal experiences to the teaching environment and have taught in institutes around the world. Students can learn online using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) allowing them to access electronic study resources and forums to discuss course material and work collaboratively with others. They'll also have access to online resources via the library. Outside of timetabled sessions, learners will need to dedicate time to self-study to prepare for coursework, presentations and exams. They can also join a range of student societies.
As a Global Public Health graduate, students will be able to explore careers in international and national NGOs and charities that work around the globe. It can lead to roles such as Community Development, Health Promoter, Epidemiologist, Policy Officer, International Programme Consultant or Global Programme Manager. This course can help graduates pursue careers in government departments both in and outside the UK. It can lead to senior roles in public health such as Public Health Specialist, Public Health Researcher, Analyst or Strategist, Health Policy Researcher, Service Manager or Director.
