Canadian Studies is a multidisciplinary program designed to introduce students to various perspectives on Canadian society. Students are challenged to investigate Canada from the perspectives of disciplines in the Humanities (Art, English & Theatre, French, History) and the Social Sciences (Economics, Politics, Sociology) to deepen their understanding of current social, cultural and political trends in Canada and their historical roots. Students will develop a breadth of skills from different disciplines as they learn about Canada. In addition to a general Canadian studies program, students may choose courses that focus primarily on Atlantic Canada, Canadian culture, or contemporary Canadian issues. It is also possible to earn a major in Canadian studies alone or to combine it with another discipline to receive a double major.
