Chemistry is often described as a central science due to its focuses on the structure, properties, and synthesis of matter - which includes virtually everything from the plastics we use to the air we breathe, and from the water we drink to the medicine we take.
The Chemistry Department provides an experiential learning environment in which students gain practical skills and knowledge of concepts taught in the classroom. Students gain practical lab experience through undergraduate labs and independent research projects under the supervision of faculty. Our research facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. Students are prepared for industry, medicine and graduate school, and consistently rank highly among their peers in regional competitions.
