A child’s first years are extremely important for their development. This is the time when children learn the most, and when teachers can make the greatest difference in their lives.
Confederation College’s Early Childhood Education program is designed to give students a broad education in the theory of Early Childhood Education, child development, early childhood curriculum, and pedagogy. Students will get the skills and knowledge students need to plan educational programs and play environments to nurture each child’s development and learning, making a real difference in their lives. Courses cover a wide range of ECE topics including play-based learning; effective interpersonal communication; child development; working with families; guidance; and health, safety, and wellness.
Graduates of the Early Childhood Education program work in a variety of settings including infant, toddler and preschool (including child care and nursery school) programs; before-and after-school programs, kindergarten programs and primary grade classrooms; special education and intervention programs; Ontario Early ON Centres; Head Start programs, family supports; home child care programs; parent/child/caregiver drop-in programs and health care settings.
