With Fanshawe's Broadcast Journalism – Television News program, students will learn to find the heart of every story, and gain the technical knowledge to share it with their audience in a variety of mediums. Students will graduate from this exciting 8-month graduate certificate program with the practical journalism training and experience theyneed for a career as a journalist, videographer, producer, editor or writer.
The world of journalism is constantly changing, requiring a diverse skill set across television and digital media. Fanshawe's industry-trained and experienced faculty will teach students how to write effective news stories and shine in front of a camera, as well as how to operate cameras, edit footage, write captivating news copy and conduct compelling interviews. They will also gain comprehensive knowledge of television and digital media production, directing and research, graduating as a versatile videographer, capable of adapting to any situation and work environment.
Graduates will take their media career to the next level, by studying in Canada’s premiere broadcasting centre, an industry-leading live news studio and green screen facility. They will apply their learning in a hands-on working environment creating current content for and producing a weekly live news program which airs on Rogers TV. Students will also have the opportunity to expand their portfolio of experience and network with industry connections during a two-month internship in a newsroom. Graduate with a diverse set of storytelling skills that are applicable in a variety of media jobs.
