Dance Performance Preparation at George Brown College at

This demanding one-year Dance Performance Preparation program will help translate the students' passion for dancing into the skills necessary to pursue a career in professional dance. Graduates will have a strong and confident foundation from which to further their professional dance education. Technical training is in classical ballet and is supplemented by modern and jazz dance. Studies in vocal and acting will enhance the students' performance versatility, and employability. This program is based on a focused approach to training, rehearsal and performance.

The graduate demonstrates the ability to:

  • Execute classical ballet, jazz and modern dance technique at a basic level in choreographed solo and ensemble presentations.
  • Sing at a basic level using breathing, dynamics and accuracy of pitch in both solo and chorus presentations.
  • Execute dramatic works that connect emotionally with audience, both individually and within an ensemble presentation, at a basic level.
  • Present self professionally at auditions and through resumés, biographical backgrounds and photographs to advance artistic and career opportunities.
  • Develop and apply self-knowledge and reflective practice to make informed artistic and personal choices.

Thirty-one scholarships to be awarded to eligible returning students in full-time post-secondary programs (diploma or degree)

Eligibility Criteria

  • be an international student with a valid Study Permit
  • be registered in a full-time 2, 3 or 4-year diploma or degree program
  • have completed at least two consecutive semesters of study with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 prior to the current semester
  • have participated in activities that have made a contribution to other students, their academic department and/or the College community in general
  • has not previously been awarded a scholarship through the George Brown College International Centre

The Woori Education Scholarship is a scholarship of $2,000 that is awarded to an international student based on academic performance and community involvement

Eligibility Criteria

  • be an international student with a valid Study Permit
  • be registered in a full-time diploma or degree program
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 in at least two full semesters of consecutive study
  • have participated in activities that have made a contribution to other students, their Department/School and/or the College community

The Assist-On scholarship is a scholarship of $1,000 that is awarded to an international student based on academic performance and community involvement. The student must be in a Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate program.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Student must be an international student
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)

The Kimokran scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to an international student based on academic performance and community involvement

Eligibility Criteria

  • be an international student with a valid Study Permit
  • be registered in a full-time diploma or degree program
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 in at least two full semesters of consecutive study have participated in activities that have made a contribution to other students, their Department/School and/or the College community

The award is available to eligible returning students in full-time post-secondary Certificate or Post Graduate Certificate program (2 or 3 semesters)

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)

Scotiabank and the Scotiabank Bursaries have graciously provided $100,000 (100 bursaries at $1,000 each) for International students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must be registered in a full-time program
  • Students must demonstrate a financial need

The Scotiabank International Partner Entrance Scholarship is available to newly admitted students in their first year of study in any post-secondary (diploma, degree, or post-graduate certificate) George Brown College (GBC) program. Students from GBC’s academic partner institutions in the Caribbean, China, Central/South America and India are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

  • be an international student (required to have a valid Canadian Study Permit) 
  • be studying in the first year of a full-time post-secondary program 
  • possess an excellent academic record (3.0 cumulative GPA) 
  • have demonstrated leadership in activities that have made contributions to the learning environment and participated in academic activities related to the area of study or student activities (e.g. clubs, Student Association, volunteer activities) 

International Centre Student Scholarship is available to full time international student in any program.
