The Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University - Thunder Bay offers a uniquely designed four-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree program in Software Engineering, with a Co-op/Internship option available. The BEng (Software) degree at Lakehead University is accredited through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
As a software engineer, students will apply engineering methodologies and good practices to the analysis, design, implementation, verification and deployment of computer software. Software has become an omnipresent and fundamental part of modern society, while at the same time it has grown dramatically in size, scope, and complexity. As a result, there is an immediate and important need for qualified software engineers who can model entire software and hardware systems and understand the role of individual components of the system, who can lead interdisciplinary project teams of designers and developers to build these large-scale systems, and who can ensure quality, integrity, and safety of the software infrastructure that the public depends on every day.
