Conflict, Development and Security at Lancaster University at Main

This MA program could be particularly relevant for students who are considering employment in the field of humanitarian assistance and post-conflict reconstruction. It could also be relevant for anyone who is a practitioner wishing to study the politics of aid. This program seeks to build on critical policy research and consultancy that has been completed for a wide range of international organisations.

Through this program the aim is to analyse the increasing overlap between ‘development’ and ‘security’ and to explore the significance of globalisation for the emergence of internal, regionalised and networked forms of conflict and instability. It is the hope that through this analysis students will broaden their understanding of the present crisis in global security, as they go on to study the recent and current responses in humanitarian, developmental and security terms, particularly the links between aid and politics.
