As governments look to promote the benefits of lifelong physical activity and sports bodies and clubs strive to ensure talented athletes fulfil their potential, the demand for highly qualified coaches has never been greater. Informed by expert coaches, this course will increase students skills and expertise and enhance their career as a professional sports coach.
With a passion for coaching, students will focus on specific sports that interest them. Selecting from a range of option modules, they will be able to direct their learning towards their own practice and career goals.
Working with their course tutors and fellow student coaches on the course, they will draw on insights from contemporary practice and research to add depth to their existing knowledge and skills. Their refined expertise will improve their confidence, helping students to develop their professional judgement and decision making so they can plan, deliver and evaluate long-term coaching programmes that consider and prioritise the developmental needs of their participants. Students will graduate with new insights about what coaching strategies work for them and their participants and why.
