Loughborough's MSc manufacturing engineering programme is designed to prepare students for an effective career as a technologist or manager who can meet the engineering, business and societal challenges of rapidly changing global manufacturing markets and industries.
Accredited by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers and The Institution of Engineering and Technology, this master's is primarily designed to prepare students for an industrial career but is equally relevant as preparation for further research study (eg through a PhD).
Modules are directly informed by both the department's close industry links and their research expertise in areas including rapid manufacturing, laser processing and automation. They are engaged in a large portfolio of high quality research in many areas of core mechanical engineering aspects. In recognition of the research carried out, the School has received a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. As a student within the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, students will have access to a range of state-of-the-art equipment. Our computer labs are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and include some of the latest industry standard software including STAR-CCM and CAD.
Loughborough has high-tech laboratories devoted to: dynamics and control, electronics, fluid mechanics, materials, mechatronics, metrology, optical engineering, structural integrity, and thermodynamics.
