About

Founded in 1905 and located on the banks of the historic Hudson River, Marist College is a comprehensive, independent institution grounded in the liberal arts. Marist educates more than 5,000 traditional-age undergraduate students and 1,400 adult and graduate students in 47 undergraduate majors and numerous graduate programs.

From U.S. News & World Report to Barron’s to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, the College is recognized for both educational excellence and exceptional value. Most impressive has been the school's inclusion in The Princeton Review’s book Colleges That Create Futures: 50 Schools That Launch Careers By Going Beyond the Classroom, which lists Marist alongside such schools as Princeton, MIT, Stanford, Duke, the University of Pennsylvania, and Notre Dame.

Marist College demonstrates excellence in education through an emphasis on quality teaching in a small classroom setting. The College's dedicated faculty really get to know their students, leading to mentorship, joint research opportunities, and intellectual guidance. Marist College believes in the value of a liberal arts education and the idea that all students–no matter what their primary field of study–should receive a broad education across many disciplines, learn to think logically and creatively, and be able to communicate effectively. Excellence in education also includes a forward-looking educational philosophy that incorporates the use of technology and meaningful learning opportunities outside the classroom–everything from internships to study abroad to leadership development programs.

Why Marist College

  • Campus: Marist's main campus is located in Poughkeepsie, NY, right along the majestic Hudson River. The Hudson Valley was recently ranked among the "Best 25 Places to Visit" in 2020 by Forbes, and Marist is proud contributor to the success of the region. From first-class residential facilities and diverse dining options to recreation opportunities and inviting spaces to socialize, there are many opportunities to engage with fellow members of the Marist community.
  • Student life: Marist College is a place where students are both actively involved and supported, and their engagement in student life makes Marist a better, more vibrant institution. There are scores of student clubs; an active student government; exciting Division I athletics, intramurals, and club sports; and first-rate opportunities in music and the arts. Mindful of their role in the global community, 50 percent of the College's undergraduates study abroad.
  • Athletics: The Athletics Program is dedicated to the development of the whole person and the integration of ethical values consistent with the Mission Statement of Marist College. The program strives to offer Marist students the opportunity to participate in athletics activity at their level of ability and interest - intercollegiate, club, intramural, or recreational. The primary sports that are offered at Marist College are: Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Flag Football, and Softball with various other items available. The main goal is to be able to meet whatever sport the student-body would like to have.
  • Career services: Choosing a career path is a process that unfolds throughout the college years and beyond. It involves discovering individual potential, learning about career fields, and gaining career-related experience in high-quality organizations. The Center for Career Services offers a variety of programs and information to assist students and alumni with setting career goals and seeking employment.
