A BA in American Studies gives wide exposure to thinking and scholarship in many different areas: political, intellectual, social, and economic history; literature; religions; music; art; folklore; and material culture. This interdisciplinary focus encourages critical and creative thinking aimed at drawing connections between diverse fields of study and expertise. Students develop concrete skills in research, organization, written and oral communication, and critical thinking skills that are an asset in careers such as journalism, publishing, teaching, arts management, law, social work, government, and corporate positions.
Students choose from among five tracks to engage scholarly interests and prepare for a career in many areas. The New York, Law, American Arts, and Civic Engagement tracks are designed to appeal to your specific interests or career aspirations. The Individualized Studies track, with the greatest flexibility, allows you to design a major that more specifically fits your interests.
What is a pathway program?
A pathway program lets you start your studies at Pace's campus, while you raise your English language proficiency for full-time degree studies. You will take a combination of university-level English language classes and credit-bearing academic courses. By successfully completing your Pace pathway program, you are guaranteed a place in a full-time degree at the University, with no extra required tests or other qualifiers.
Please note: That admission is only guaranteed upon the successful completion of the pathway program. This means that all expected progression requirements must be met as highlighted by Pace University in order to gain acceptance into your desired degree program.
