Sheridan College's Practical Nursing diploma program is approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). When students graduate from this program, they will be eligible to apply to take the Canadian Practical Nursing Registration Examination (CPNRE). When they have successfully completed the CPNRE, they will be issued a license to practice as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario. Hands-on experience is essential to prepare for a career as a practical nurse. In this program, students will have clinical placements in long-term care facilities, acute and chronic care hospitals and more — starting in the first semester. In the final semester, students will participate in a 450-hour clinical placement, gaining on-the-job experience that will boost their resume and build their confidence. All the placements will be within 150 kilometres of Sheridan College. Students will need to provide their own transportation to the clinical placements.
