UAlbany’s graduate curriculum in Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latino studies prepares students for success in positions in business, education and government that require cultural competence and knowledge of the Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx populations.
Whether students are looking to continue academic work that they began as an undergraduate, or are pursuing this field of inquiry for the first time, at the University at Albany students will gain interdisciplinary knowledge and skills that can improve their job prospects and help them succeed in doctoral studies.
Departmental strengths include globalization, community development, Mesoamerican anthropology, women's work and labor studies, U.S. Latino/Latina socioeconomic inequalities, and Caribbean colonialism, resistance, and migration.
