Dental public health is the specialty of dentistry that deals with the prevention of oral disease, promotion of oral health, and improvement of quality of life through the organized efforts of society.
Good oral health can have a positive impact on an individual's ability to speak, smile, and socialize. Students will learn how to improve fragile dental public health systems and reduce oral health inequality.
They'll learn how to design and carry out dental public health research, and understand how raw data and statistics can be used to draw meaningful conclusions and help students make decisions on how to approach complex issues.
Students will work closely with Public Health students from the School of Medicine, taking a holistic approach to healthcare that will benefit them throughout their career. During this time, students will be taught at Ninewells Hospital and Dundee Dental School.
