Students study topics including: financing international trade, foreign direct investment, legal analysis and writing, the sale contract, and the carriage contract.
At Essex, they specialize in commercial law, public law, and human rights law. They are ranked in the top 100 Law Schools in the THE World University Rankings 2020 and are top 20 in the UK for research excellence.
Essex's law course will develop students' intellectual and critical faculties, encourage them to think independently and teach them to present rational, coherent and accurate arguments orally and in writing. It will provide students with an excellent foundation for any career.
Essex's School of Law graduates have gone on to a wide variety of careers in international and intergovernmental organizations or employment with governments across the world, in commerce and banking, in non-governmental organizations and, as might be expected, in the legal profession and the judiciary.
During the year, Essex holds a careers session for students in which they reflect upon their own careers and how they have been built as well as those from former students. Essex's staff are always available to discuss career options and if students are interested in a particular area of the law, Essex can link them up with the relevant alumni to offer advice.
