Our world is complex, and the challenges faced by organizations need an innovative approach. This course offers the option of a 30 week work placement which is organized by the student. This will provide useful work experience and an opportunity to develop real world experience.
Central to MA Human Resource Management course are the themes of how to manage change and personnel development. Human Resource (HR) practitioners need to think in radical ways to manage diverse attitudes and motivations of people entering the labour market. HR practitioners need to find solutions to critical issues. They work across departments to promote inclusive and productive environments, enabling the employee and organization to thrive.
The intrinsic link between HRM, an organization's strategic and operational requirements, and the impact on society, can be powerful. This course will give learners the tools they need to improve a range of issues, from global and national equality to climate change. New ways of thinking about work and the role organizations play in the world is crucial. Through this course, students will be encouraged to become a critical, inspiring leader of the future, starting today. They'll be able to immediately apply the learning to their workplace.
The University offers a blended learning approach, including individual and group work, one-to-one sessions, workshops, study trips, guest speakers and live projects/case studies. Formal lectures will be kept to a minimum (and available online if students can’t be with us in person or want to review later).
The MA Human Resource Management with Placement Year is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) approved centre enabling graduates to become a Chartered CIPD Member once they gain relevant experience. Students will have opportunity to attend school networking events to interact with University's business partners.
Graduates have secured promotions with their current employers and work as HR Professionals for a variety of organizations, including KPMG, Tesco, and Ocado, as well as becoming independent HR consultants.
