Accredited by the Association for Project Management, the MSc Project Management is for students wishing to study project management at postgraduate (Master's) level. They'll gain knowledge, skills and understanding required for a successful career in project management. This course pulls together project management theory, practice and solid hands-on experience to provide learners with an excellent grounding in project management theory and methods.
The balance of theory and practice is reflected in the research interests and practitioner experience of the University's specialist lecturers. The course content covers qualitative and quantitative aspects of project management including time, quality and cost management; project leadership and team management; project management's contribution to strategy. It also provides the optional modules relevant to different project management application areas such as general project management, information systems and engineering.
This course has varied programme of teaching that includes facilitated seminars, practical workshops, web-based learning, case study analysis and traditional lectures. Students are also provided sessions by visiting staff, practitioners and consultants to give a varied perspective of the topics covered.
Students are connected to alumni and local businesses, such as Ocado, Tesco HQ, and the NHS, who support the course with guest-speaker sessions, networking, and careers fairs. Graduates work as project planners, controllers, and senior project managers in a range of organizations including Microsoft, Deloitte, and Amazon.
